THE CHILD PLACEMENT PROCESS
How are Children Placed in Your Care?
Here's how it works: Children are placed into dependency (Division of Children Youth and Family Services) due to abuse, neglect, abandonment, unsafe/unhealthy living conditions, other. The goal of DCYF is to find safe alternate living situations for these children. This could be relatives, fictive kin, family friends, AND licensed foster care providers. Licensed care providers can be licensed directly through DCYF or through a private agency, like Beautiful Birds Family Services. DCYF has several child placement desks/workers across the state of Washington. Thier main goal is to find placement for children that enter dependency. They reach out to ALL potential agencies across the state, with a focus on keeping children within thier region/demographic. Despite what you may have heard, DCYF reaches out to all agencies for child placement. If an agency has a licensed home that has the capacity to care for the child, the agency and DCYF work together to place the child. Click here for STEP 2
